Dear prof Laksh
I am sorry for not paying attention in class during the module CN2108 and i apologize for spending only 5 days or so to study for the final examination on Matlab codes. You have taught us well and many of us have went on to become well-versed in the Matlab language. However, sadly, i am not one of them. so, could u please give me a one-to-one refresher course this coming semester? i have free days on mondays, wednesdays and thursdays but would prefer sectional teachings to be held from 12pm to 3pm on alternate weeks (odd weeks preferably) on a monday. Some refreshments at about 230pm will be nice. I will give u full marks in the tutor evaluation exercise and nominate you for the best lecturer award. Let me know you opinion on this. Hear from you soon.
regards

well well, some said FYP is a test of character, others said it is a test of endurance. For chemical engineering student however, it is really more of the former than the latter. Our project lasts only for a semester. So we will experience immense suffering for e next 6 to 7 months; unlike other departments. Theirs are, well, prolonged suffering with lesser intensity. so which one's better? i prefer the chem engine style.. sadistically motivating us constantly .. However, progress has been at sloth-like-pace, i am officially stuck.
Over lunch, my entire brain is still thinking about the project. It was so pre-occupied that i forgot to pay for the food. I just took it and walked off. It was only a while after i started eating that i realised i had forgotten to do something and went back to pay. The aunty said she was stunned for a while when i simply grab and go without paying hah. So, since i am stuck and the weather is so hot, i think i shd give my fish a bath.

Colonscopy
Same doctor, same operation room, same nurse, same porter, zero pathology found (as clean as a baby's colon). So irritable bowel syndrome it is. The scope was a breeze. The hard part though was the day before, the colon cleansing part. Now that all checks have been done, I think i really have to re-adjust my priorities. I guess i am human after all.

Where the Hell is Matt? (2008)
Nowadays men often feel that their lives, or private lives are made up of a series of traps. Vicious vicious traps. We sense that within our everyday world, there are troubles we cannot overcome, and in this feeling, we are often correct. What we, e ordinary men, are directly aware of and what we try to do are often bounded by the private orbits in which we reside. Our visions, powers and the societal norms that constantly bombard us are well, limited to the close-up scenes of our jobs, family ,neighborhood and society; In other milieux however, we are mere spectators.
Take a look at this clip:
simply awesome, wouldnt u say? (watch in high quality in youtube, it is even better)
How you wish you were like him? No? Someone who seems to defy most (if not all) of the societal norms that we were brought up to believe in here in Asia. It will take lotsa courage to do exactly what he does; no doubt there will be bungee cords pulling u back screaming at you "No!, you should work hard, save money and so on.." But how tight that strangle hold is on you will very much depends on how badly u want it or how sick of your life you currently are. thus e questions remain: just how determined are you in ur pursue of that one dream, that one truly unforgettable memory? and break free from all 'traps' and to become the envy of others.
So, when life gets you so down and you start tumbling down like a rock, turn yourself into one huge boulder, break the societal cord, do something that is truly meaningful and be away from all the disapproving voices just for once. The rewards can be amazing, the experience unbelievable and the best thing is: you arent a mere spectator anymore.

alright, i apologize for the stir that my previous post caused. 请多多包含. It wasnt meant to generalize things; it was written in the context of 'couples' (ok, dun start another round of bombardment), pardon me if i have not made it explicit enough. That said i understand that there are some erroneous statements, however, just take them with a pinch of salt k.
So.. FYP readings have started and i do not understand a thing that i am reading. E project title is: "Are PI/D Controllers Effective and Sufficient for Blood Glucose Control?". Its a computational based project, not experimental. Cant stand labs. It requires the use of Matlab and Simulink to solve numerous ordinary differential and partial differential equations which models the patient dynamics i.e. gastric emptying processes, renal threshold of glucose and the like. (quite a mouth full ya) There are of cos the controller parts too which will release the proper amount of insulin required after some computation which i will have to model so as to prevent hpyo and hyperglycemia. (not a clue). All the maths are coming back to haunt me, the 4th order Runge-Kutta method, 1st order Euler integration. i have forgotten everything about them too... great
