Ever had times when u work so hard in order to make a dream come true, but as you get closer to it by the minute, its importance simply diminishes...
maybe cause circumstances have changed and impacted its significance..
or maybe you have made sacrifices in the process and felt that it wasnt really worth it in the end..
or maybe you are those that do not dwell on your past successes and keep setting higher benchmarks for yourself once you attain something..
or maybe, perhaps more simply.. that wasnt your dream to begin with...

as i look up the escalator everyday morning at raffles place.... watching rows and rows of people passing me by on my right....i wonder to myself; where are these ppl rushing to ? Their hands are full alright.... with laptop bags, newspapers , breakfast, coffee yada yada... are they too heavy for their office hands to carry? Or do they like their work so much that they cant wait to get into the office.
.
.
Or are they simply chasing their dreams....
p.s. On 2nd thought maybe they are simply running late for work... =)

Vainpot
I am in a dilemma, they say i look better now than before (cos face rounder... hmm..) But the thing is, my weight is now 71kg and my BMI says that i am overweight by asian standards. Damn man, what is this?? i look good only when i am overweight?! HAHAHA... isnt that suppose to be a blessing you might ask. i can eat and eat and ppl will still say i look good. What a great deal! But before you start congratulating me, like all things in life, there is always a catch. you see... i failed my IPPT last year and badly needa pass it in 2.5 weeks time (my legs cant jump and run as far, my arms cant pull me up like i used to and my abs are disappearing into a sea of fat) Otherwise 3 remedial trainings per week beckons. Yes i am doing remedial training, damn is it 'fun'. we have personal trainers, good lockers and clean showers, free parking and free use of the gym. What more can we ask for? But i am so not going to sign up for this 'country club' health program on a permanent basis (they pay us to sign up mind you). Therefore, good bye 71, hello 68 or 67 or 65 or 61...*cool*.. and turn uglier and uglier in the process.. - -"
p.s. i still believe that the extra weight was due to the increased in my muscle mass... HAHAHA

The Last Lecture
"I'd always thought the father/daughter thing was overstated. But i can tell you, it's real. Sometimes, she looks at me and i become a puddle." - Randy Pausch
As i read the lines in the book by Dr Pausch, i remember a female friend asking me this very question in the nov. of 2007 when she was booking her tickets back to malaysia. "do all fathers love their daughters? if so why dont they show it anyway?" She was questioning her father's love for her. Well, i told her that most fathers do (from a guys perspective that is), perhaps he just doesnt know how to show it and i told her to try to pick out the little things that he does or had done for her..
i couldn't agree more when Dr Pausch went on and wrote:
"i want Chloe (his 18 month old daughter) to grow up knowing that i was the first man ever to fall in love with her..."
i guess most guys do when they set their eyes for the first time on their baby daughter.
Well, I hope that at the end of the day, she did find out the answer herself...

SAS/Matlab/GAMs
They said that once u;ve learnt a programming language it is easier to pick up another. Well, i concur that the logic behind them are more or less the same, but the coding arent man... its just like GAMs, it doesnt do certain things that Matlab does using a similar logic simply because they are programmed differently at the backend. both the engineering and finance thesis are computational in nature. one uses Matlab, the other uses SAS. To my horror SAS's codes are almost entirely different from matlab. Damn.

stupid questions, stupid answers
now, which is worst? stupid questions or stupid answers? how about encountering both on a same day?
well u see, a question may sound stupid to a person but not to another.
see the thing is, some questions maybe as harmless as asking things like "does FYP sucks?" *FOR SURE IT DOES!! (though i really dont mind ppl asking me that but i think it can labeled as a stupid question using some others standard) to totally dumb ass question like "how do twins tell themselves apart?, "can u drown a fish?"
there is no doubting that asking simple question may lead to the discovery of new things. at times it could even enhance ur knowledge on a certain subject - fundamentally speaking. questions like "are we made of atoms or cells?" falls into the catogory. i believe that when someone asks a question that challenges the norm, for example "is removing energy the only way to create ice?", it helps to bring some form of creative thinking into play. maybe a poor example but u get the idea. some stupid questions can be higly entertaining at times too
the definition of a stupid question is however, highly subjective. But still, there are those that are totally jack ass and universally accepted as downright stupid. Some accquaintance asked me a truly damn ass question today. Its so stupid that i could have fainted and concuss for months, to think he is nice enough to complete the night with a stupid answer, Kudos to him..
When the waiter asked him if he would like his cup to be filled, he answered.. "well, maybe..."

FYP
when the professor replies "The two equations in your message are mathematically similar. If the filter is before the sampler, then continuous filter should be ok." it can only mean one thing.

undo saturday's redo...
Continous transfer functions are in fact ok.
