The wicked turth

Women, fairly or unfairly, are judged on their looks, and men, fairly or unfairly, are judged on their money, their power and their status. When a guy is rich and/or hes famous, and he is powerful it makes him more appealing than a cleaner of similar age, build and looks.

If a girl goes for a guy who is rich (maybe say she has pursued him), is she in it for the money? Maybe yes, maybe no, and u know what? Maybe, maybe that's ok, really. And you know what else? That very fact doesn't preclude the possibility that the girl is also truly in love with that guy. But can a girl fall in love, truly in love, if she was initially attracted to a guy for his money/power? Let rephrase this abit to show how ridiculous that question is, "Can someone fall in love, really in love, if he was initially attracted to a woman for her legs?" No one doubts the answer to the second question is yes. A physical attraction can bring two people together and, if the pair is compatible, lead to a lasting love.

Insisting that it's simply not possible for a girl to really love a guy whose wealth caught her eye is sexist. Its "male-ish" to say that only the size/number of a guy's pecs or or the shape of girl's rear end can inspire a genuine attraction, whereas obscene wealth always inspires only money-grubbing.Well, wealth can indeed inspire a certain degree of gold-digging, but that's not always the case. To determine whether someone who was initially attracted to you for whatever reason sincerely loves you requires emotional insight and the advice of good friends.

However, if you have this thought in mind, "that the girl is out for your money", right from the beginning. How long would any relationship of yours last? Althought there are black sheeps aplenty outta, guys just be on your guard and yes do heed your friends' advices...

101

Since i am waiting for my turn to play mahjong, i might as well write something here.. i haven wrote anything on investing and trading so here goes.. not going to go into the details here... just give u guys an idea first...

Firstly, why are there so many ppl that are apprehensive about investing/trading? Most of us would have heard of how some relatives that have burnt themselves badly in the market, wont the same happen to me? Well, simply put, people that have burnt themselves werent really investing/trading. They are gambling or in technical terms using excessive leverage without hedging. Trading (uses charting methods) are usually used for short term investing (sometimes holding shares for less than an hour or even minutes). Trading is the closest to gambling in the financial markets (besides buying shares blindly and lying to yourself that you are a long term investor). However how safe do u think your money is sitting in the bank? Inflation is running at about 3% currently and is highly likely that it will hit 4-5% come next year, you are losing that % yearly without doing anything. Are you happy with negative returns? If you say yes, is it because there is a greater chance of higher amt of losses that could you might attain if you enter the market? While, lets change the scenario a little, now lets say go for a job interview and the company tells you that they will cut your pay 3-5% yearly, would you wanna join that company? I think the answer is no, $3K will become $2.73k in just 3 short years.. your real purchasing power will drop if you do not invest.. what i really like to do here is that i hope i could chance your current perceptions on investing and get your started.. i have influenced quite a number of my friends already and hope to do the same here..

In gambling, gamblers uses a strategy call the Martingale Strategy, i guess you all would have heard about this before. Let me give you a scenario, say you bet $50 in a casino and you loses it. What would your next bet be? It will be higher am i right? Say you bet 100 bucks and you lose again, how much would you bet now? You will increase the amount again right? This is the Martingale Strategy, it only works if you have an infinite amount of money which all of us dont have. This strategy drains your resources really fast, say you start with $5,000 and you bet $100 which you loses, you end up with 98% of your initial capital. Say this cycle repeats for 5 times and you double the bet after each game and you loses all 5 of them, you will now have only 38% of your initial capital left. Now for your next bet you will need about 263% profit to gain back your initial amount. (The % profit that you'll need to regain your initial capital increases as your losses accumulates). To gain that type of % profit, one has to take a whole lot more risk, which thus increases your odds of losing as well as the % profit that you need to obtain in your next bet to regain the $5K. You see the picture now? it's a viscious cycle.. Also, gambling is a zero-sum game, the money is just changing hands and there is no net gain for the group as a whole. However, investing and trading is not... althought there are the buy and sell side for each trade, it is not a zero-sum game and the group as a whole can and usually profit from the gamblers whom think that they are 'real-traders' when in fact they are not.

The factors above explains the humongous losses that are sustained by the gamblers' group. (Although there are other factors i.e. contra , emotions et cetera that plays a part lets not go there to simplify the issue). For real traders, they have a trading system in place which tells them when to enter the market and when to get out. You see for traders, real traders, they uses the Anit-Martingale strategy and that teaches them how to cut their losses. Lets go back to the example again, say you start trading with $5000, and you loses $100 and you cut your losses and sell your shares. Isnt it so much easier to gain back that $100 with the amount that you have left ($4900)? You would only need about 2% profit to make it back up to $5k (Singapore Government Treasury Bills pays about 2.1% currently). Say you are forced to cut your losses 8 times for $100 each, you will need now 19% to regain your initial capital and that is still so much lesser than the % profit required in the previous scenario. In trading the key is not how many times you are right, but how much you make when you are right and how little you loses when you are wrong. This is call stop-loss, and it is the one thing that'll prevents you from having to take excessive risk in your next trade to regain your capital or even profit from.

Trading is not easy though, i will go into detail next time on things like buy-sell signals, stop loss signals, moving stop loss signals, technical investing, probability, system back testing.. psychology plays a rather significant role too but i cant say much about that...

"Say i am holding a cup in my hand how much would you offer? Now, if you are holding that same cup in your hand, how much would you offer it to me now? " Think about it, it has got to do with the psychology of money...

Lastly, if you have little no qualms about putting over $200k to $500k on an apartment or flat, why are you afraid to even buy $1k worth of shares of say Coca-Cola, or MacDonalds? They have assets worth billions the world over. Which is safer? Note that your apartment's value do flucatuate too. Think about this as well...

Have absolutely no idea that this song is from the movie "Casper"... man... some movies and dramas have such great songs.. 'Little Wonders' from the movie "Meet the robinsons" is another one of them.. and that "Con Air" song (shdnt be hard to guess the title)... .. 'Breathe' by faith hill.. et cetera et ceterea.. the sheer number precludes a comprehensive discussion... oh and "A thousand miles" , "Put your records on", "How to save a life", "Look what you've done","Before it's too late", "Drive".. of cos there are the chinese songs too but i cannot recall their titles...

Watched a couple of movies the past few weeks.. Bee movie, Enchanted, Good Luck Chuck, Golden Compass, The Warlords... have to say... none was really good... Bee movie was funny in the beginning but that is all there is to it i guess...Enchanted... was dragged literally to go watch... saw animals dancing and singing at the start...i was like oh man, get me outta here!! eventually though things started to get better.. The Warlords ...overhyped.. like The Golden Compass.. a bit predictable, where got fun..Jay Chou's Secret was rather unpredicatable and its awesome (though it felt like he had borrowed ideas from other movies) Hope I am legend and the Thai's scary movie (forgot its name) will be really good and probably scare me lots though...

Our conversation will bound to center around her weight whenever she is around (Nicole richie is her idol by the way).. she has a Ph.D in calories-computation. One look and she knows how much calories that particular food item has and if you ask her, she can tell you how much kcalories (or kjoules) she has consumed since morning and how long she must exercise to burn them off (li hai ba). Amazing i tell you...after which she will go on about the 'fetish' that i have on 'plump-er' girls.. I dun have a fetish on meaty girls, just wanna tell her that she can be beautiful and sexy as well with some fats on her... she can never get it ..but she has twisted my words in such a way that it has now turn into my fetish!! (--;) thats why it's refreshing to see girls that will just eat and dun care about a thing... hah..

my ambition is to be...

When one of my good friend is still in Singapore, we would always chat about what we wanna do next time and the various investments that we are going to go into together in the future. He is my cheating buddy in university, yeah, we always cheat during the mid terms if it is not held in the sports hall. We were so good that we can practically discuss during the tests and even help each other check answers when we were given different values. We were that good haha.. oh well, back to the topic..

I remember when i was in primary school, the teacher would ask what do you want to be when you grow up. Some will say things like, u know the usual suspects, doctors, lawyers, actors et cetera. some want to be Captain Planet, Care Bear..

just kiddified my blog.

However, i have never heard of a child that would say,
"I want to be an Engineer."

and if his/her vocab is good enuff at that point in time, he/she will say, "What the **** is a engineer?"

Well well.... but being an engineer is "cool!" so said my cousin during this year's chinese new year.. "Yeah its cool, look at where i will be working at next time!":

Isnt this a great place to work at, looks like Las Vegas yeah? Yeah its great, with all the hydrocarbons, particulates, acids, ozone and oxides in the air, it is an excellent place to work in!! Unless, i drink black chicken soup (oh kuey teng) everyday, i think cannot purge them outta my system fast enough...

i would very much like to stay away from all these and punch calculators in well ventilated offices instead...

Clue to the answer:

八字大张口,言字往进走,
你一扭我一扭,你一长我一长,
当中加个马大王,心字底月字旁,
挂个丁丁叫马杠,坐着车车逛咸阳。

Phew..

Okie just finished the exams... this sem like suffering from serious mental block... cannot think one.. studied for America History only during the last day slept for only 4 hours, heng the ones i focused on came out.. below is an email written by a NTU Aerospace major to her professors, friend sent it to me... if only we can write that to our chem engine profs.. Dr Jiang jianwen is in the news by the way ..

Well, of all the movies such as enchanted, golden compass, i went to watch the Bee movie..kao eh it is erm.. kinda lousy .. going to watch the golden compass tomorrow though.. finished a book already and some nitty gritty stuffs..going bintan for new years eve, christmas still no plan... really hard to plan for any outings with the rain, wanna go sungei buloh and ubin chek jawa to look see and go blade but the weather is too unpredicatable.. well well.. So have you figured out how to cut the cake into 8 pieces with 3 cuts? slice it horizontally first into 2 circular pieces, then slice them together twice like how you'd usually cut a cake...

Email:

1) Today I had taken the exam paper, AE3002 Flight Mechanics, and I had a shock of my life! The very moment I started to attempt question 1, my whole body started to sweat all the way throughout the paper until 1130am... even in the air-conditioned hall! It was like I had seen a ghost! It was also the first time I had swallowed so much saliva during examination in my life.

2) The questions 3 and 4 were really different from what we had been trained to do. We had been practising with eigenvalues in the tutorials. However, eigenvalues were not tested today. Instead, we were being tested on something else. To be honest, I didn't even know what the questions were asking! How was I supposed to come out with the answers when I didn't even know the questions? Were they supposed to be questions to be answered or questions for us to ask more questions about? It was not that we didn't study, but what we studied didn't actually come out and what we didn't study actually come out!

3) It is like we were being taught to pitch up a canvas tent in our tutorials for the past few months. However, on the day of examination, when we entered the exam hall, we were given cement, spades and drills by our invigilators, and the instruction was "Build a concrete house. - 25 marks"

It is like we were being taught to hunt down rabbits for the past few months. However, on the day of examination, we were being put in a jungle to hunt down wild tigers! A whole new, different monster from level 10! How is that possible? We are all really clever people in Aerospace. But we have to be reasonable. We didn't have enough examples for us to practise with in the first place. The total number of tutorials that we have is only 1-to-6.

It is like fighting off some aggressive tigers in a jungle with only 6 hand-guns!

On top of that, we didn't even have the proper solution answers to some of the 6 tutorials. It is like giving us 6 hand-guns and out of the 6 hand-guns, some of them do not have any bullets inside.

4) Dear Professors, we were all deeply traumised by today paper because we really had studied very hard for it. Please be reasonable in marking our answer scripts.

Regards,

A Nice Girl
