a mail i received from a fellow chemical engineering student began with this "Hey ACH (pronounced as A followed by C and H, not Arch)... " i replied to her immediately, how do u know that you can address me as such? Still waiting for her reply though. I never recall telling her ppl call me ACH at times.
This 'nick' started all the way back when i was in secondary 2. I always like to day dream during class you see... it was the first week of school and i was caught day dreaming by my english teacher. She asked for my name, and my dear friend simply replied. "Call him ACH !!" Ever since then, friends in JC, Uni and even the army still call me by that name every once in a while. Its weird how it spread.. i din do it intentionally by telling them oh you can call me ACH, more often than not it was they whom overheard my sec sch friends calling me that; and they simply followed suit...if u were in AJC in 2001 to 2002 or even 2003, u might have seen the word ACH scribbled all over the lecture halls' and tutorial rooms' tables using correction fluid, it wasn't written by me, it was by my class mate. He wrote so many ACH here there everywhere that my sec school's classmates always ask me if i am zhi lian. Well well.. anyway, my dad is ACH too...and yes you guys can call me ACH if you want to, i will respond.
you know some American companies like Hewlett Packard (HP), JP Morgan as well as Ben and Jerry's are all started using their founders' name? Maybe i should start a company call ACH Pte Ltd and see how far it goes. It's main business will be erm... name branding and viral marketing... hahah..
